Victorian Mahogany Decanter Box - c.1860

£250.00
Sold

A well used Victorian mahogany decanter box, of pitched form with a pair of gilt brass carrying handles, a ‘Detecter Patent’ lock and four decanters. The box has various condition issues and is perhaps not for the purist, but is still a great looking object and is very usable. See condition section below:

Condition:

This decanter box has had a hard life, presumably from an enthusiastic drinker! All of the bottles have some damage, including chips and a silver collar which has been added to one to strengthen the neck. Two of the stoppers have glue repairs. The box itself has a split to the top where the timber has reduced in size. Next to the key hole there is a crack. The base has been replaced with hardboard. The lid doesn’t quite close flush. No key.

Dimensions:

34 cm high x 21 cm wide x 20 cm deep
