A Carved Serpentine Model Of The Uffizi Boar (Porcellino) - c.1900
A finely carved serpentine model of the Uffizi Boar, after the Baroque bronze fountain by Pietro Tacca (1577-1640) - in turn after the Hellenistic marble original which is displayed in the Uffizi museum in Florence.
This model is know as Il Porcellino (the piglet).
Condition:
The sculpture has damage and loss to the front left leg and stand. It has been glued at some stage. Otherwise a few nibbles.
