An Art Deco Venesta Plywood And Limed Oak Mirror Backed Cocktail Cabinet - c.1930

£750.00

A rare and super quality Art Deco limed oak cocktail cabinet, with nickel plated banding. Probably a one off, bespoke piece.

The central doors open to reveal three fumed oak drawers (one with cutlery divisions and green baize) with early Heals style ‘squashed smile’ pierced handles, surrounded by an arrangement of shelves. The outer doors open to reveal further shelves with plated metal rails for glasses, and clips for bottles.

Hidden behind the left mirror plate is an applied Venesta ‘SUMNOT’ Made In Finland paper label. Venesta were importers of plywood and were used by prolific furniture makers Isokon. Marcel Breuer designed furniture for Isokon using Venesta plywood. This label doesn’t neccesarily mean the piece was made in Finland.
